INSTALLING THE DAMPER CLAMP
Fig. 5-2
INSTALLATION
A damper clamp is provided as a means to prevent full
and/or accidental closure of the fi replace damper when
installed as illustrated (Fig. 5-2). When the gas log
set is operating, the damper must be fully open. To
install the damper clamp:
1. Open the fi replace damper.
2. Place the damper clamp over the damper blade (Fig.
5-2).
3. Tighten the set screw of the damper clamp with
pliers or a wrench so that it affi xes to the damper
blade. The clamp must be permanently installed.
4. Should the damper clamp not fi t, install a permanent
damper stop or provide some other means of
preventing full and/or accidental closure of the
damper.
Refer to the PARTS LIST when installing the Real-
Fyre
®
gas log set
WARNING: Failure to position the parts in accordance
with these diagrams or failure to use
only parts specifi cally approved with this
appliance may result in property damage
or personal injury.
1. Carefully unpack the burner system. Check the
PARTS LIST to be sure all parts are included.
2. Check to be sure that the Real-Fyre
®
gas log set
is designed for the type of gas that fuels the
replace.
3. Be sure the gas supply to the fi replace is turned off.
4. Clean the fi replace fl oor of any dirt or ashes.
5. Remove the cap from the gas supply line stub in
the fi replace (Fig. 5-3).
Caution: Be sure that when removing the cap,
the stub does not turn, loosening the
connection inside the wall.
PLACEMENT OF GRATE AND BURNER
The Real-Fyre
®
grate is modeled after wood-fi re grates
to add to the natural wood-fi re appearance of the log
set. Its heavy duty construction and design provides a
better fi t - even in narrow, shallow fi reboxes - and works
with the log set to provide an attractive fl ame pattern.
To position the Real-Fyre
®
gas log set properly in the
replace, place the grate as far back in the fi replace
as possible, centered left-to-right (Fig. 5-4). The grate
is tapered. The widest side should face forward.
Open Closed

Install the stabilizer clips on the grate bars so that the
slots of the stabilizer clips fi t over the back edge of the
burner pan. Use the nuts and bolts provided to secure
the clips in position.
Remove grate for gas connection and granule/ember
placement.
